We are updating our Christmas service with immediate effect, due to several members of staff being asked to self-isolate due to Covid-19.
Urgent adaptations have been made to our service to ensure we can continue to support you, our customers, while also protecting our staff. The health and safety of our staff and customers is our number one priority.
What does this mean for you?:

Standard service cut off brought forward: We must receive your standard service packets by tomorrow, Tuesday 15 December, for completion by Christmas.

Reduction of counter hours at the Hall: From tomorrow, Tuesday 15 December, the counter at the Hall will be open from 9am – 12 noon, Monday – Friday, until we close on Wednesday 23 December.

Priority packet timeframes to lengthen: From tomorrow, Tuesday 15 December, “Early Hall” / Next Day packets will be dealt with as a priority but may not be completed in the usual timeframe. The aim is for them to be ready before Christmas.

Priority packet cut off brought forward: Any “Early Hall”/ Next Day packets received after Friday 18 December may not be ready when we close on Wednesday 23 December.

Limits on submission numbers at Greville Street: From tomorrow, Tuesday 15 December, customers at Greville Street are limited to a maximum submission of 3 packets of 10 items (30 items total per customer, per day). If you exceed this quantity your packet with be refused at the counter.
Greville Street opening hours remain 10am - 4pm.
One hour service continues at both Greville Street and Goldsmiths’ Hall.
Same day service is still suspended at both Greville Street and the Hall.
I ask you to remind yourself of our usual standard operating procedure in our Service and Submission guide for all other services not outlined above.
All services will be reviewed in early January. The Assay Office reopens on 4 January 2021.
