A press release by The British Hallmarking Council:
Members of the judging panel for the HALO Award 2023 have been highly complimentary about this year’s entries, praising businesses for their imaginative ways of creating consumer awareness of hallmarking. After lengthy consideration the winners of the Award for 2023 have now been selected.
The HALO (Hallmarking Awareness and Learning Online) Award is supported by the British Hallmarking Council and the NAJ. Its objective is to encourage and reward promotion of the importance of the hallmark to all consumers browsing and buying fine jewellery or silverware online.
In only its second year the Award attracted entries from a wide range of businesses, from individual designer-makers to omni-channel retailers who combine a strong online presence with bricks and mortar stores.
Chair of the HALO judging panel Rachael Taylor said
“It was so encouraging to see a record number of applications for the HALO Awards 2023. The entries were very diverse, with businesses of all sizes employing multi-faceted tactics to educate their clients on hallmarking; from viral social media videos and surveys, to taking their fans inside assay offices through online reportage. It was a difficult job to select winners, as the top five entries were all of an incredible standard.
The response the Award has had this year has come from some very different jewellery businesses. It goes to show that there are no boundaries to doing a brilliant job of promoting hallmarking to the public, and I hope that businesses big and small take inspiration from this year’s competition.”
The Winners will be announced and presented with their award at the Benevolent Society Ball at the Grand Hotel Birmingham on 7th December.
All shortlisted entries will receive helpful feedback from the judges via the British Hallmarking Council, congratulating them on facets of their activities which the judges particularly liked and identifying opportunities for raising awareness even further.
Full details of the winning entries will be published after the formal announcement on 7th December.
